It was highlighted in a VOSA newsletter to testers in July.

Also you are only allowed GB by side of number - England or other football club / Ford or similar car manufacturer is now a fail as well.

I don't think this will solve the problem of people driving round using illegal plates, These people will just end up having two sets...
On another note, It also means that the Shogun I've just purchased will fail it's next MOT as the plates don't show the name and postcode of the supplying outlet. :roll:

The bottom line is it's to make ANPR cameras life simpler.
.... no one should ever consider a paint job that also included the whole rear end and front ends of the vehicle covered in random letters and numbers. :wink:

So they can trace plates back to who made them, stops people making plates that have altered numbers to make names. (they just sell them as show plates)
