rear axles
clairedave:
hi swapping my 200tdi rear axle to discs, been offered wolf rear axle with discs complete;also td5 rear axle.can anyone tell me what the difference is please??are they different pads?or is the wolf axle stronger? thanks for any help  dave
MuddyMachine:
A wolf axle is stronger. Are you sure its of a wolf. there not very common.
Lots of people advertise there stuff as wolf, as it helps to sell it. Most of the time its just standard Landrover.
Not sure on the brake pads. A wolf axle is pretty much a 300tdi
clairedave:
i am paying good money for this axle its off an 04 defender wolf ,i originally was going to have a td5;standard axle, but he has offered me a wolf axle for same price as he has had on shelf for a while.is there anything on the axle that i would spot different to a standard one or is it just hardened.dave
MuddyMachine:
The axle is standard but has some extra plates on the bottom from the diff out.
Basically if it looks like a standard axle then it not a wolf one.
I will try and get a pic from work tomorrow.
Range Rover Blues:
The big difference practically is that the 300TDi axle will take alloys and the 200TDi won't. IFAIF all rear disks are the same size and there is little difference between the pads, that goes for all LR products.
The later ABS style axles have different internal seals that can make them less likely to leak EP90.
