im 19 now, got my disco when i was 18. its a 2 seater commercial and considered a van, and under my dads insurance which brings it down to £600. if it was me on my own, it would be £3,000+. the 2 seat trick is really good, i had a Toyota Hilux when i was 16, that was my 1st car on the road. i think that was about £400 a year.
heres an example when i was looking into ford escorts
Insurance:
ford escort =£1,400/yr
ford escort estate=£2,700/yr
ford escort van=£400/yr

hope this helps

33 and £250 fully comp...

Mind you my first Landy was an S3 109 which I bought when I was about 22, that was a measly £120 fully comp on a military vehicle policy, but it was a second car.

I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

29 when I got a Rangie, 32 when I got my Disco, 33 now.

Insurance is £500 quid, fully comp with break down from direct line, including the 12mths installment hike.

 8) well yeah it worked for me. i had a hilux pickup, but wanted a hilux surf. they couldnt do anything cos all have 5 seats or more. wanted a defender, but couldnt afford a desent one. clicking around on autotrader and stumbled across commercial discos. wasnt keen on discos, but liked the van look. went insurance shopping again asking about em, with standard 5/7 seats, then asked about the 2 seats, and got really good quotes! waited for a bit and got a great deal for my one. loving this disco, no regrets! 8)  :D  8)  dont know if you can change the insurance for a registered 5/7seater to a 2 seater "van" even if you do take them out thuogh. give it a bash.
