Firefox is far better than internet explorer...

I had the same issue as you, but that was down to me messing about with a plugin called image zoom. If you click Tool - Add Ons, you can see what is installed. If its there, disable it and restart firefox. See if that fixes it?

With regards to some sites not working in firefox - It has no activeX support, so any app that uses this will not work.

There is however a add on called IEtab, which i use a lot. It enables firefox to render the page using internet explorer, but within the firefox frame / application. You can set a load of urls in the config for it so that they will automatically be rendered.

Its really good and can be downloaded here

Ive biffed Outlook for the Mozilla equivalent - Thunderbird :)

How To Speed Up Firefox (Helpful Vanity)

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 100. This means it will make 100 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

Is there anything as equally handy for AOL...as mine seems to be operating at steam driven capacity of late

Wanderer:
Firefox.

The AOL browser causes more problems than any other browser.
Download Firefox and run that instead.
