thermidor i wasnt trying to get into an argument but the commission for racial equality would differ about the word pikey being offensive, i merely was trying to say that if you were a traveller reading that statement then it is racially offensive to them, its not at all like saying " a sikh guy cut me up on the A4" as that statement is factually correct however if you said some P**i cut me up" then that is racially offensive.
If the CRE were to look at this thread i think they would be of the view that the term pikey is offensive and derogatory to the traveller community.
I personally am not offended by it but as a responsible forum i think it needs to be taken into account.
my friends wife reported to the police that "some pikeys were moving into the field opposite" and she was cautioned that her term was offensive, crazy i know but this is the world we live in

OK, I stand corrected.  I'll bear this in mind;  but the muslim post (a) wasn't moderated, and (b) was commented upon on the basis of its content rather than its language, so at this point I don't think there's any action to take on this thread.  Far be it from me to over-moderate :roll:

if its such an issue they should sort themselves out instead of complaining were getting picked on cos o them being messy
