Counterweight

JPJ:
On my 300TDI there is a disc shaped lump of metal at the offside end of where the steering damper connects to the front diff. I have been told this is a counterweight to reduce vibrations.
Anybody had any experience of removing it and the after effects of doing so as it is in the way of some steering damper protection that I have recently aquired?

i took it off my 300 series and didnt notice a thing

i took mine off years ago, gone and forgotten  :lol:

Same here...........just more weight to carry around............made no difference
