heater matrix

Okay, Ive crept across from the Disco side as a friend of mine has a leaking heater matrix on her 98 freelander. Now as a mechanic i havent a problem with doing it for her but i could do with some advice from those that have replaced one. How much work is there in actually getting at the heater matrix? Is it a pain in the arse to do? Estimated time to replace it? Where can i get a replacement one from without stealer prices? ?Anything else i need to know? Not alot to answer for those of you who have done the job

Haven't tried it but from what I've heard it's a b1tch to do  :roll:

Quick solution seems to be using k-seal to seal the leak

just put some rad seal in it for her today. fingers crossed.

Not the easiest job i've ever done... complete dash removal, air bags, steering wheel, binacle ... lots of bits. You do not have to remove the blower housing you just need to remove the bolts and skew it round to remove the matrix... I believe the leak in mine was caused by the flux not being washed off after the soldering process ..?
Main Stealer price is about £125 ... and a good days work..!!

Elsewhere in the Freebie posts Doobreydog has used K-Seal and recons it worked OK.... Good Luck

Hey JC just had flick through your piccies....see your Day in derbyshire went up stanage edge....did you risk the FL....Get up there regular in mine (fully guarded and lifted and not reccommended without) and shows some of the bigger marques how its done :twisted:
