water pump on a jimny , any ideas???
jamesey:
hi ive got a slight leak from the what seems to be the water pump area and dripping down has anyone done one of these as id like to try and do my own it looks fairly simple
do i have to remove the timing belt to do it
or do i need to know anything thats awkward to do on it , cheers
glaggs:
You do have to remove the timing belt, but apart from this its an easy job. Did my last one in about 1hr. Just remove the rad., alternater, fan etc. Then the lower belt pully. Remove the plastic cover. There are timing marks on the belt pully's. Line these up (I also marked them with tipex to make sure they were easy to see) Then losen and remove the belt tensioner. This allows access to the water pump. Reverse above to replace.
ps. my local motor factor supply QH water pumps for about £20+vat .

started to do the pump , took it off and fitted the new one but the area where the tensioner bracket shoud be wasnt there , the daft shop had given me one wrong i wasnt impressed so there she sits in my garage until friday when i can get back on it
as long as i remember where all the bolts go
jamesey:
the timing belt seems slack but its how the tensioner goes , and theres a weird thing inside the spring what looks like a paper clip how does this go
i know it sounds daft but there is :?:
