SAT Tyres, what are they?

mate of mine used to trial a lightweight CCV back in the early nineties. he tried both SATs and the cheaper "mud plugga" copies. Identical off road but the mud pluggas were much better on road than the SATs. The SATs were apparently seriously dangerous on wet tarmac.

Incidently the deestones most of us know are a copy of the goodyear extragrip tyre. I had a very old and perished set of extragrips on a series 2A 109" that would squeal rubber on DRY corners if you were enthuiastic enough - and that was with an asthmatic 2 1/4 petrol!!
