Desert Island Discs

(1/1)

Bush Tucker Man:
Following on from my question/posting about who writes the Best Lyrics In Modern Music
I was thinking whilst driving to Whitby this morning about what would be my 10 'Desert Island Discs'

Digressing;
It was a nice trip over there in the 'Works Van',as I got a fairly clean traffic free run over Fylingdales Moor  :D  :D
Blimey!, can that Mondeo move, even 5-up , a 'cracker' for safe overtaking :)
Nice in Whitby as well, bought a couple of Frank Meadow Sutcliffe prints for the front palour.

So to my discs

strapping young lad:
i never listened to this prog on the radio

so is it

10 albums
or 10 singles?

Bush Tucker Man:
Sorry Dyfed, it's been a while since I had the luxury of listening to the radio during the day, but it's actually 8 tracks, be they singles, orchestral pieces, or CD (album) tracks.

I'd give up my Tv for the radio, as I miss listening to Johnnie Walker, BobHarris, Nick Barraclough  & Mike Harding

As per this format;
Jeremy Clarksons choice

Billy Connolly

strapping young lad:
aaaahhh

thing is though my selection depends on my mood at the time of the selection

gutted!

Bush Tucker Man:
I suppose that comment could go for any of the guests though Dyfed.

Mine (at the time of 'writing' & in no particular order) are
'Thunder Road'
Bruce Springsteen; 'Born To Run'

'Boys Of Summer'
Don Henley; 'Building The Perfect Beast'

'Peer Ghynt', by Grieg. Such a powerful mixture. Everything from 'Morning' to the dark menacing 'In The Hall Of The Mountain King' is wonderful.

'Top Of TheWorld'
DixieChicks; 'Home'

'I'm Still In Love With You'
Steve Earle (& The Del McCoury Band); 'The Mountain'

'Ride of The Valkyries'; Richard Wagner; from the 'Valkyrie' opera. Sheer power.

'Jerusalem'
William Blake. Dark Satanic Mills?, Yorkshire to a tee.
We had this performed by a Baritone soloist at our wedding, still sends shivers down my back whenever I hear it.

'I Walk The Line'
Johnny Cash; 'I Walk the Line' (all about his struggles to keep off the bottle, drugs & 'other ladies' whilst on tour after marrying June Carter)

'In My Life'
Beatles; 'Rubber Soul'

'Cherry Blossoms'
Tindersticks; 'Tindersticks Live'
(this last choice was a toss-up between Tindersticks & Buddy Holleys ''Oh Boy', I like Holleys sheer exuberance on the track & he's a damn good guitar player)

Over to you......
