Hi

My 3.5 v8 disco has started overheating, I have cleaned out the radiator and changed the viscous fan. So where do I look next.

I have recently moved the header tank, but am sure it is about the same height as it was, would this possibly be the cause.

Any suggestions more than welcome.

Thanks

Steve

If the radiator is clean on the outside... then the possibilities are:

1. Clogged on inside - flush back and forth with a coolant cleaner
2. Engine coolant routes clogged - See above
3. Water pump Gnackered! - Fit new one!

Oh... wait... possibly an airlock!

Which V8 is it? carb or efi?

The efi's have a water tower affair on the drivers side bank for filling the system. IIRC this can also be used for bleeding system.

How does the overheating happen? (Right away, over particular speed, slowly, suddenly)

If it go's from cold and just keeps getting hot try the thermostat as it may be stuck shut.
