Implications of no back box on a 300Tdi??
Iain C:
A few weeks ago my back box fell off...no idea when or where! I really should get round to doing it, however in some ways I can't really be bothered!
It genuinely seems no noiser whatsoever (otherwise I might have realised when it fell off!), it's not going to get in the way when off roading, and it's not going to cost me any money to leave as is!
However, are there any negative implications? Is it illegal not to have one? Is the fuelling affected (take the back box off a bike and the fuel burn is hotter)?
Your thoughts are appreciated!
cardiff_gareth:
I don't think the back box is required as I've seen various members who have removed the back box and gone for a side exit exhaust outlet instead. You could maybe go alont that avenue :?:
I could be wrong though
feenix:
I think it will fail the MOT, as I think the exhaust has to vent the exhaust gases out of range of the bodywork.
L90OOK:
That is correct, it will fail the MOT as the system is incomplete & not exiting from the body...all to do will gases building up in the vehicle
Niel:
If the back ones fallen off the heavy monster under the middle will be close behind, put a new one on the back, and when the bigun goes replace with a pipe, saves the swinging weight busting the front pipe off the turbo!
