Thing that is worrying is that i will need at least 50mm of spacing which is lots.

Why 50mm what you thinking?

15" have more options for truly big tyres bu8t as you say 16s are more plentiful in the sort of size you can fit without big lifts.

lambert:
The rims i have are j7's off a mk2 trooper(cheers lurcherman) they are on plus 20 offset, so to compensate for all that and wider tyres and to have some steering lock i'd need atleast that 50mm.

Terranosaurus:
7j are standard on the majority of Mavs/T2's with 235s on and the offset i've seen variously quoted as anywhere from 0 to +25.

What size tyre are you thinking of?

lambert:
According to everything i have found et varies between 0 and minus 25 with only the latest t2 alloys being a j7.

As for tyres either 235/85/16 or 265/70/16 but selected with a tape to get close to 31 as we know how much they vary!

Terranosaurus:
I'll have a measure up of mine later if I get chance. I've got 4 alloys and a spare steel and as you know its sat on7 x 15 weller with MTs on.

IIRC everything after about 96 got 7", even in steels, there are definitely 2 widths of steels floating around. Remember a lot of these website are copies of each other and where did the original info come from.
