Stainless Exhaust for RRC

<< < (2/2)

Jonny Boaterboy:
Now I have been having this debate for a while.... My cats started to rattle a while ago so I started to asking around about what to get. I was all set on getting a stainless system until I spoke to one guy who said "if you want a smooth running V8, stick with genuine Land Rover as they have all the correct back pressures and the engine always runs smoothest on them" and since then I have decided to stick with Genuine...... however to replace just the cats will cost £600.

If you are saying you can get a complete sports system for £500 maybe that would be best.... From what I gather once you have a stainless system it is covered by a lifetime guarantee anyway so you wont ever have to get another!

The question that I would like to know is which it the better quality make? Rimmer, Double S, Jan speed etc? or are they all the same?

My only other requirement would be to keep the noise down..... I like the fact that when I'm in My Range Rover it's nice and quite, it also helps when out green laning as it doesn't draw attention to you. I don't mind leaving the big noise to the young kids in there nova's although to have a nice, but quite sounding exhaust note would be nice!

who's clever enough out there to put some sound clips of exhaust notes on mud club =P~

the sports exhaust on my 4.6 is loud but burbly rather than screaming loud...if you reverse up to a wall it reverberates...

if you nail the throttle it sounds fabulous as well...as for chavs in novas...i leave them the smell of rubber haha

Jonny Boaterboy:
"reverberates"........ what a great word and a wonderfull way to describe the sound....

It is a good feeling to leave the little "in-its" when they think they can out run you!

I don't really understand them because they spend £1000's on the little 1.1 litre cars..... but each to their own!

Range Rover Blues:
What makes me laugh is all that noise comes straight out of their fuel tank, 1.1 litresisn't that poweful to start with, before you strat throwing it away with a stupid exhaust.

Anyway, I've got a couple of systems like JJ's and on blue (running on 7  ) it burbles a bit, sounds nice and not too intrusive.

On the 4.2 one of the original comments from roadtesters was that the longer stroke smoothed out the exhaust note, not to everyone's taste :?

Well now that mine's a big bigger still the LSE has a lovely smooth exhaust tone, very quiet even when working hard-like towing the 'van for example.  Binning the cats and running a double S system added 1 MPG or more too :D.

Now I heard a lovely powerflow system on a V8 the other year (think it was 'lord of the strings') but our local powerflow place is cack.  Take in your Nova, no problem "big dustbin under the bumper sir?" ok.  Ask them to join 2 pipes together and watch the guy crumble.

But I got both my systems on E-Bay which makes them a no-brainer.  Only thing I would say is the mounts have snapped off now, stainless is brittle
