Hi all, thinking of putting a roof rack on my disco, but im not sure wat it will look like. want it for tansporting things like ladders etc... oh and i want spot lights! no landrover is complete without a bit of extra lighting :lol:

Any pics would be great!!!

was thinking of making 1. has any1 done this? was it worth it?

lol, you should say hello!!

they are a fortune new if you keep an eye on the for sale or ebay they do come up. I paid £400 for it used.

The least of my worries is the roofrack being nicked as it currently has the roof tent on it.

what are all these racks made off?
ive made a couple to peoplpes spec out of steel, and just think they arefar to heavy, are the safety devices ally, or are they mainly steel.

there is special nuts that you can get that have a special tool lick a locking wheel nut.

the nuts cost £1 each and the tool is £12 because it is patented.

I got hold of a genuine G4 safety devices low level rack as Bully's complete with lights and it cost £350.
It is made completely from steel tubes and took four men to lift it in place.
THe Warn lamps retail at over £100 each, it does look good but the only thing is you have to remove the roof bars as it is only 50mm above the roof.
Sad thing is SD no longer make the racks so they are expensive. I was offered 650 for mine but said no.
If you contact Mark @ Discoparts he has one that he might be selling.

you got a bargain there, im not sure about the weight though, i fitted mine on my own it is very light for its size but it didnt have lamps fitted at the time. riif tent on the other hand is a lot heavier!!lol

I was having a chat at Landyfest last saturday, with a guy who's just setup his own business making Roofracks Full length, galvanised with  full checkerplate deck Approx £300. I  have his phone number and Emaill Addy if anyone wants them.
