Insurance and modifications

(1/4) > >>

Jimbo:
Just swapped the 110 insurance from Greenlight to Adrian Flux (cos Greenlight have stopped doing 4x4's), and I need to complete a 'modifications' form. Should I list everything that is non-standard, so winch, bumper, MT's NAS lamps, rear work lights, diesel heater, steroe, furry dice, rubber duck etc, or just the obvious bits like the winch/bumper and sliders ?

The (very helpful) lady at Flux said that they should be made aware of everything that is not-as-the-factory intended - but AFAIK mine came from LR with modulars and MT's, so is that a mod or standard ?

I'm confuddled a bit.

Jim

v8kenny:
If in doubt list everything
Insurance companies only need the slightest excuse to stop paying out in the event of a claim
I sincerely doubt that it would have left the factory with modular wheels on it as they are not standard issue
The mods you have mentioned should not have any impact on your premium in any case - if they do shop around for cover
With NFU my last 110 with pto driven winch/bumper, 2" lift, A bar and spots, lpg conversion, modular wheels with 255/85 r16 muds etc,etc incurred no extra charge, the mods were simply noted on the policy to satisfy the underwriters

I listed everything and got the insurance cheaper than it had been for a std vehicle. Best to list every thing so that if you ever have to claime there are no nasty suprises.

hairyasswelder:
Tell them everything, if they have all the facts they can decide whether it is important or not. If you dont tell them and it is important they can refuse to pay out

I just insured mine through Roadsure cheaper than last year    :D

Depends on the insurer. Mine are cool but most of the mods are more up spec in the range rather than non manufacturer ones. Ie mine was a bog spec one to start with and the mods i've done were mostly available on higher spec cars in the range.
