CV joint problems?? Not sure if it is that or not.

Hi everyone,
Had my 90 off-roading the other day when i noticed i had lost drive to my drivers side front wheel (whilst in diff-lock).
On closer inspection i found that on full lock (or near enough that, both in and out of diff-lock) there was a 'clicking' sound coming from the wheel. Had the shaft out thinking it was that but it looks fine.
Any thoughts on what the problem could be? Rekon its the CV join? Havent checked it yet.
Any ideas would be great, Thanks!

id say cv if it was clicking
but loosing drive on that wheel, afink its been transmitted to the other wheel on that axle  :wink:
if the cv gave up which lead to the loss of drive then you really would no it had given up by the nice sounds or 1 large crack
pull the cv out and have a look at the cage, if its huge instead of a nice round shape
then its goosed
but if it was clicking then its goosed

does it click now tho ?

Yea it is clicking. It drives fine but there is a clicking sound on full lock and no drive to the wheel, in diff-lock anyway. Pritty odd, perhaps the front diff isnt locking out but if that were the problem then there wouldnt be any clicking when it wasnt in diff-lock, would there? It's got me pritty puzzled.  :?

if you've got a std diff then i dont understand why it isnt locking out  :?
as it isnt a locking diff
does it drive on road now out of diff lock ?
if it does then theres nothing broken
if there was something broke like your suggesting as there is no drive to that wheel then you'd only be able to drive on road in diff lock

the clicking sound on lock tho is telling you that it needs a new pair of cv's

Yea drives fine on-road out of diff-lock. The 'problem' comes when i turn on full lock, i get a clicking sound coming from the right front wheel. I know i have drive going to the left front in diff-lock (i'm guessing also drive out of diff-lock but not checked). That would mean the diff is fine, which again leaves me with cv joint.... Guess i'll hav to try and hav a look if not garage job  :(
