got sent this statement in an email
ATM PIN NUMBER REVERSAL (GOOD TO KNOW)
If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM
machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.
For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321. The ATM
recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in
the machine.
The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the
robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.
This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is
seldom used because people don't know it exists.
Please pass this along to everyone possible.
is this actually true or is it just a spam mail :?
Thrasher:
Bollards.
There's nothing to stop you having a pin of 1111 or 1001 or something like that. Same forward as it is backwards.
Coppers would be run off feet

Sorry, it's an urban myth, put together by somebody who gets a kick out of seeing people forwarding their odd message around the world.
If in any doubt with these things, google on (for example) "urban myth pin reverse" and you'll find out the truth.
beast5680:
ah i suspected as much
Lord Shagg-Pyle:
I've never heard of that. Sounds like a load of bull to me. :?
