Bike rack on Landy

<< < (5/5)

hobbit:
I dont carry bikes anyway, but one of my pet hates is obscured rear lights/indicators, remember to have a good look at what setup you have, if they do obscure the lights at all, you will run the risk of someone running into you, and possibly you nicely stowed bikes, not just looking straight on think where a driver would see them at an angle

Along with the fact that they could then bounce you for not having your lights showing, ie ("but I couldn't see your indicator")

For what it costs for a light board, especially if you already have towing electrics already installed, it could save you a lot of grief

HIPPO:
I have a Max Raxx bike rack, it seems well made and can hold up to 4 bikes, they are held on with an integral ratchet strap and locked on using a cable again integral with the rack.  It can also be tilted so you can open the back door fully.  The only issue I had was the fact you tension the rack to the back of the car using straps and tubes, the tubes drop inside the rear door, you shut the door then tighten the straps, this has issues with bending the top of the door outwards if the bikes are heavy.  I got around this by putting the straps around the roof rack instead.  I took 4 bikes to france with this,  this year and had no problems, even stopping en-route to use the stove on the back door.  I would show you some pics if I had any!!
