Tyres: What's metric equivalent of 9.00 x 16?

(1/2) > >>

oakeedokee:
Thinking about buying a modded series2a, but it currently runs 9.00 x 16 tyres. I like the extra height they provide but is there a metric or US size equivalent as there is a very limited choice of tyres in this size ?

Bush Tucker Man:
Off hand (very off-hand :D ) is 285/85 a close match??

Wouldn't like to consider the steering lock on that

iianorthants:
think they work out at 255-100-16 i thought ? i secretly want a 101 :)

watch out as the might be tubed tyres on 1ton rims or FC rims. if so you might have troubles useing old rims with new moddern metric sizes as might only be riveted and not welded .... if the case easier to get new rims and tyres.  you can still get 9.00 x 16 second hand from vass in bedford or can get a few remoulds that pop up from time to time

bronco 4x4 sell them

and cra**ock claim they can get them but never can

be warned that they are same size as alot of tractor tyres which don't work well

Xtremeteam:
the only prob with tractor tyres off road is u can get soooooo much further with them that it takes a really long winch rope 2 get u back

oakeedokee:
..and I don't want to completely ruin my chances of getting stuck. That's half the fun! Ian, did you mean that I would have to use tubes in tubeless tyres if they are 1 ton rims?
