Will Discovery standard steel rims fit on a Series 2a?
Bob Ajob:
--- Quote from: "ChrisV8" --- Check the stud size I think Series 2A has small studs so wheel hole may be rather large. Recently there was a report in LRM the garage man Mike Manifold of a Series losing a wheel writing the LR off and the car it hit !!!! Basically the small studs are not large enough to hold the larger wheel, that was using Wolf wheels I think and their centres are even thicker than a Disco's.

The studs are wider as of Chassis suffix H.
Regarding longer wheel studs, see this thread:
Wheel studs
Do you know anyone nearby with a disco on steels that you can try?
Spacemud:
Thanks chaps. Was looking at some wheels on ebay, but think I will stick with standard steels for now. I just stripped and painted the standard steel silver and it's looking good now.....................plus it's cheaper
Devon-Rover:
I have disco steels and have no problem with the wheel studs. They are a wee bit short and it is just shy of a full nuts worth but they are done up well and so shouldn't move.
Little-Green-Machine:
i have the same question bout' chrome modulars cos if disco wheels fit and they are made for the same car

My sig pic shows the same set off wheels being used on my 300tdi, and my '58 series 2. At the time it had the original shorter studs which have now been replaced with the longer series 3 type.
There is a thread i've posted on here on how we changed them over to s3 ones.
