Answer: Earth point E101 ~ which promptly came away from the inner wing when I put a spanner on it - d'oh!

30 minutes of improvisation later and hey presto! both the headlamps are nice and bright and the ABS warning light doesn't come on when I turn the headlights on. Job done! Time for a beer (or two)  :D
