anyone fitted 90 wheelarches to their rangie?

I've got a 1985 rangie, already cut the wheel arches to take bigger tyres but putting 235 85 16's on now to give more clearance, a mate of mine gave me a set of 90 arches, just a bit unsure of how to fit them as they seem to need a lip to screw into.
Suggestions welcome, it's a 4 door so I know I will need to cut two of the arches to fit properly.

depending on a number of things like wheel offset etc. then you should be able to fit 235/85r16 tyres without need for extending arches, currently I have run 750r16 (same diameter but a little narrower) with both standard offset and 11mm offset wheels (on standard bumpstops and slightly longer/stiffer springs with no serious catching.

I have 235's on 7x16 modulars and they fit under. They do touch but not to the extent that I'd consider putting 90 eyebrows on it. That would look hideous. I chopped the extra seal off the back doors but if you read Fisha's article on Range.com it's quite an easy and smart job.

Just wanted to know if anyone had done it really.
The article was very helpful, currently going to fit a set of dirt devils 235 85 16, then I have 6 macho's coming because the dirt devils are getting a bit old. I need the extra height for a trip next saturday hence the double swap!
I'm also aware of the regs regarding the covering of wheels etc so not sure if  just cutting the wheel arches is legal, guess I need to ask the question. The 235 85's definately catch the arches at the moment so got to do something. I've seen rangies with eyebrow arches on in the past and they don't look too bad.

I'm lifted 3" on the back, 2" on the front, hd disco springs all round as they were the stiffest I could find!. I do a lot of laning in north wales/mid wales, peak district and bits of shropshire as well so a good mix of mud and quite severe rock hence the need to get that extra inch or two under the diffs.
Some of the ruts tend toward being deep because people have driven some of the routes when wet and dug them out. Something that will be addressed in the near future on some of the lanes I drive.

My mate has done it sucessfully... not sure how he fastened them on but here's a pic as proof.

Here's mine, I run 33 12.5 15's   first you need to cut the arches to fit the lip on the 90 arches, then create a lip, I bent some ally to shape, slitting it where it needed to bend (to allow it to bend) and then riveted it on, painted them up then riveted the 90 arches to the new lip, mines also a 4 door so I created the rears as 1 then cut the lip and 90 arch for the door to open, I'm not sure how to up load the pics so if anyone can help I'll willingly send them the pics to upload, any questions drop me a message an I'll do my best to help

simplest way is to just use the add attachment option (just above the preview and submit buttons) when posting.

It pays to resize the picture first though.


Another way is to host pictures online using a site like photobucket etc. and then copy and paste links from the site into the text as your creating a reply.

I'll measure how far they stick out tomorrow an let you know, I will also take some pics with the rear doors open.
the previous owner fitted 33's without any body lift or suspension lift, he just cut the arches and doors away till nothing caught, unfortunately the way he cut the arches square ment I had to do more work on the doors than I'd have liked.
When I offered the arches up I reckoned you'll be able to chop the door without cutting into the curved part of the inner skin, the inner and outer skins run parallel before the inner curves away so when you fit the lip, the skins will be pulled together with the rivets (I slapped a load of sealant between the two skins before fitting the lip to stop any water/moisture issues later) the reason I made the lip so large on the door section was because the previous owner cut into the door to create space and the large part of the lip is mainly to recreate the inner skins curve, hopefully when I put some pics on this will make abit more sense
