i have just purchased a m plate 300tdi es and the central locking dont work and the alarm dont work i am guessing that the alarm affects the locking but i am no expert and thats the reason why i am asking you guys

so basicly is t a common prob and if so how much of a pain to fix or where do i look first???

cheers

central locking is dubious on mine (to say the least, you have to give the key a FIRM turn, and even then the passenger front door and the boot dont join in!

..mine also has an alarm, and a fob, which lights up when you press the button, but doesnt seem to do anything... so like a true hero i decided to remove it....

unplugged the main unit, and spotted the "caution - landrover alarm fitted" sticker on the window....

i tried the ignition and nowt happened...

so, going to strip down the doors, i suspect the actuator on the passenger side is worn out, and the switch gear on the drivers side is also worn.

i imagine this is faierly common with a lot of vehicles, so just a case of open and look!

hope this helps!

There is a fuse which runs both of these operations...think its a 30 amp one?

Check that. I only know this cos im having leccy issues myself but for another reason!!

Good luck!  :D

cheers lads i will check it out and report back

I have problems with mine now and again (M reg 300TDI too ???), mine seems to be a problem with the drivers side lock/actuator? If i leave my window open about an inch and lock with fob, it has a nasty habit of blowing the fuse ?
