right first the bad news, the landy series 3 109 is going to be sold :(

the good news i have just brought this got it on friday, its a series 2A 88' first registered 1968,brought for Â£350, its tax exempt :D the chassis has been strengthened front and rear and it has been rebuilt twice. it has in it a V6 essex 3.0L 8) :twisted: and has overdrive fitted, a full soft top roof. i will have to replace on of the brake pipes (i think havent had a proper look at it yet) as trying to stop you have to realy stamp on the brake, only realized that when the brake is pressed the fluid pours out :roll: it also has quite a bit of rot in the baulkhead on the passenger side which will need sorting out (would like some help in what is the best route to take with this patching ect). the head gasket needs replcing (its bubling) as the bloke who owned it befor raced a BMW 3 series down the motorway and he thinks this is what caused it :shock: whilst the head is off i was going to get it skimmed (both of them) and also it needs converting so it can run on unleaded (any help for what work is needed would be appriciated). so today i took a few piccies (quite a few actually) the canvass has now been cleaned though.o it also has a roll bar, and loads of histor (recipts for everything and photos from both rebuilds ect) and a heater that actually works :shock: :D .

i was also hoping that somone could tell me what this button is for?

located in the drivers footwell near the clutch?

it used to have an alarm sytem but the wires were cut,was wondering if it was somthing to do with that?

o and my drive at the moment, mom doesent seam 2 happy about it, cant think why :lol:

well, it needs a new chassis, 2.25L 4cyl and gas converted with certificate you can collect it when you like for Â£500 :D

well basically, its compleatly gone, if you were a good welder you could probly (with a bit of work mind) patch it but it would probly be easier to find a half decent second hnd chassis and do a straight swap on to it, i would do it my self but do not have the space (plus the weather has been prety unpredictable) so i brought the series 2 instead.

know what you mean.. thing is, a half decent series chassis usually comes with a half decent series... so it would kinda defeat the object, if you know what i mean? might be a bit high priced with a knackered chassis.

not trying to knock it or anything so dont take it the wrong way, cos im sure its worth Â£500+, just not with a busted chassis.

The button on the floor is your highbeam button, they were more common down there a few years back!

Nice looking Land Rover, will need a bit of welding here and there to get it through the MOT, but similar to mine when I got it and that cost Â£350 too. :)

no no MOT or tax, it a 1983 model twin tanks under the seats (gas con as i already said with the certificate) passenger footwell needs repairing truck-cab as you might be able to see from the piccy and a general tidy and sprus up. as i said i would love to do it myself but on the drive in middle of birmingham (just down the road from a school) isnt ideal.

What a lucky find! I'm sure the bulkhead rot would have put other potential buyers off. Shouldn't be too bad to patch back up. You should be able to find some info on here:

I'm not sure that the head can be converted to run on unleaded, it didn't seem likely when I looked into it (unless no-one knew?), though to do it you need hardened valve seats. The v6 is a nice smooth engine, I've just got rid of mine for a 2286 petrol, though only for a change and for something easier to work on (still learning about engines).

cheers mate, yes no all about the gaskets for classics site, there prety good :) thanks a lot for all the links im prety shure i will be using the m :) i think it is just hardened seats for the valves, im prety shure your ok to run it without converting it but the engine wont last as long, i am going to reasearch a bit more, maby on some classic ford forums.

will either do it myself or get someone to do it, if the price aint to bad will get someone to do it saves me having to learn i suppose (although a usefull skill to have). it might be a while befor it is done but when it is i will tell you, more than welcome to pop round for a gander and a cuppa :D not like your far away :D
