Ballast resistor?

(1/1)

dave_2A_2.25Turbo:
In conversation a few minutes ago, I was told that my 2A (with Ducellier dizzy) should have a Ballast resistor fitted.  Is this correct?  Where would it normally be locasted?

tomarse:
its the type of coiol you have fitted that defines wether you should have a ballast resistor or not.
You probably should if you have the proper coil in.

James.Harwood:
If memory serves me correctly the balast resistor was used with 9 volt coils to keep the voltage to 9 volts to the coil when the engine was running, when you start it up it would bypass the resistor to up the power to the coil - better spark.

Never seen one on a Land Rover though (it may be there if I looked)
