Mostly standard turbos on the wagons I've seen / been inolved with.

dump valve sound ok but surely large intercooler , gas flow heads and larger manifolds would produce more pull. doesnt thre fuel pump pressure have to be uped abit to cope with the start rolling of 35s plus

if nos is used on v8s  mega icelandic hill climers  . a small lpg tank which is supposed to increase torque by 50 percent roughly would provide mega torque when required

this is the funnyest thread in a longtime

a dump valve wont work on a diesel specially a TDi as it doesnt have a throttle butterfly, for a DV to work it requires a vacum to open, something a diesel doesnt naturally create as its an excess air device,

to get good power out a diesel you need more colder air & more fuel, dump valves make no odds other than sounding a bit like a chaved corsa,
although i dont always agree with eeyore i have to this time as oven on a standard 200tdi to get gains is more boost more fuel, bigger IC & exhaust & hello 150Bhp

mines is currently running 150Bhp with the above mods,
next stage would be a T25/28 TURBO with a race pump & injectors, should make 160+ but will be rather black, better option would be got for a 300tdi & fit a race pump & injectors, exhaust & FMIC & gas flow the head, should make 175+ but ticksover a tad high, more ponies & torque would require a bigger turbo or VNt setup but then its all about the package & the finish which ideally needs set up on a rolling road

Just a brief query, what's an "FMIC"? Guessing it's some sort of intercooler but the FM bit puzzled me. A larger intercooler is probably next on my list, only snag is I have aircon and understand that this makes it difficult to upgrade the IC?

I recall reading somewhere that 150bhp is a sensible output for the 300TDI, trying to go much above that isn't practical for a normal car as it becomes increasingly prone to melting or blowing up.

i don't know if they used VVturbos it was just a logical assumption that i came to......but assumptions are the mother of all [!Expletive Deleted!] ups!
would have thought a dumpvaulve would make some difference when used in conjunction with other mods. thought the idea of them is to vent the gasses on one side of the turbo to allow air to move more freely and reduce the amount of lag after changing gear. if i am wrong sorry, i can admit to any mistakes made but i am pretty sure it will make a difference, i am completely self taught with this stuff so sorry if i have come across as being a smartass but i would rather you just telling me where i have gone wrong than just taking the Michael!
