Can i drive to the Mot garage?
hobbit:
If a vehicle is on SORN, it can be trailered, or pre-booked for an mot and has insurance cover can be driven as stated above, also it could be driven legally on trade plates
Normally if the vehicle is not taxed a garage will put trade plates on the vehicle for a brake test (4wd have to be tested with a tapli meter)
But be careful on parking it on a public road on trade plates, they are not necessarily covered under the plates to be done like this

:( Just a point if you go for an MOT and the vehicle details don't tally with the DVLA details you may be refused an MOT. The garage have to log on to the DVLA and confirm that all the details are correct between the vehicle and DVLA before they start.
So if you have'nt got the log book changed for a replacement engine then it won't tally, so they can't do a valid emissions check as a Tdi will have different criteria to a normal aspirated diesel. Maybe you need to check with garage first ?

Mine was fine ... and all done with new computerised system. But then...it's a V8 and my V5 states 4600cc as opposed to the 3.9 ... but the engine number is still incorrect :(

--- Quote from: "littlepow" ---A vehicle that is SORN registered can not be driven/parked on public highway under any circumstances. To do so is a breech of the SORN rules.
If the vehicle has no valid road fund leicense, then it has to be trailled to the test center, until a valid MOT and tax have been issued.

No it doesnt as many have now pointed out..... a pre booked MOT covers you for no tax disc as long as Insured and driving to the test station directly..
