loud grating sound down from 70 to 60mph
ken110:
the rear was topped up the other week. the gear oils/fluid in the boxes was changed last year. I'll check the levels but i havent got any leaks
muck_truck:
You'll be alright doing 70 with one prop and diff lock for testing on a short run. The same load will be going through transfer box, just extra load on the prop and axle thats still attached.
Dont be too harsh on acceleration and it will be ok. i did this last weekend and when i first got it and its still going fine.
I live near a dual carriage way thats about a mile to the next roundabout so i go up and down there a few times.
extreme90:
running 1.2bar atm so what ever psi that is i dunno john :?
Range Rover Blues:
Depends which prop you have removed, as difflock couples one output to the input, so if you drive the output that has the difflock, ie the front then the centre diff itself is relived of duty, if you only use the rear then the loading on the planet gears is double the normal load.
That said they are strong enough to get knocked about in low box, so just try to avoid towing.
ken110:
it was the rear prop, new one fixed it. when i did the Uj's and grease I think I put the two parts back out of phase, making it unballanced. Not helped by the wear on the slide joint. all done and happy again, cheers Guys
