new engine
shaun and co:
hi there.
does anybody know if you can fit a ford zetec engine into an sj? the reason i ask is my mate thinks that you can so hes trying to get me to put one in his.
If you cant does anyone know of any 1.5l+ engines that will fit?
cheers

shaun anythings possible it depends how much ££ you want to spend best to buy whole car so you can swap all the electrics over to the suzuki
the most popular and esiest conversion is to to fit a 8valve vitara engine no need to mess with wiring loom just need to move one engine mount and drill a couple of holes for the gearbox and away u go

the electrics in his suzuki are all shot so i'll have to replace them anyway!
is the 16 v harder to fit than the 8? i dont want to spend the rest of my life fitting it but he doesnt have too much money to throw at it so its got to be a compromise between ease and expense!!!

hi m8 as with the ztec its all the wiring for the 16v ecu and all the gubbings that goes with it
cheap solution is to get a cheap vit off fleabay use its engine and wiring in the sj that way u will have all the wiring and still be able to sell bits of the vit off to get some cash back
or you cud go diesel conversion lots of different ones to choose
vag lump say golf td
pug lump out od 405
vaux lump from astra (1.7) corsa (1.5TD)
all viable options but more money to convert than the vit conversion

Unless you have one spare they are quite expensive,as far as electrics go i think have seen them run on carbs but again its expense.......get a vit engine is my advice.....I think Gen X has one for sale... or could try an 1800 baleno now that i would like to see
