TD5 Serpentine Belt Replacement
Paul:
I'm changing the Serpentine belt on the Discovery tomorrow,
It's starting to make a very annoying squeel that goes after a
mile or so but it starting to get worse.
Anyone know if it has a self tentioning pulley on it like to 300tdi.?
Do I need any special tools.?
Anyone know the Part Number.?
clouseau:
Don't know about that but the easiest way to find out is get a torch and give the belt a yank - if it has a self tensioner you will see it move - note direction in which it moves to ascertain direction for relaesing tension
muddyweb:
I would think it almost certainly has a self-tensioner.
The direction will be "in" ;-)
For mine, I don't need any special tools. If it's got a plastic tensioner wheel, be very careful not to lever too hard on it.. they will snap.
Paul:
Just had a quick look, Spotted a self tentioning pulley that is
mounted down to the left and looks a little hard to get to. :(
Six pulleys in total, Must take a photo before I remove it so
I can get it back on the same.
Part Number Anyone.?
Paul:
Found the Part Number,
Off to buy a PQS 101510 tomorrow.
