air con rad help

(1/1)

minty:
hello this may be one of them dum question's but ive a td5 def 90  8) and i need to replace my main radiator  :( on a close inspection i think my air-con one needs to be replaced as well   so my question is, do i have to take it to a garage or is it possable to do on a drive at home, will i need special stuff to do it with? eny advice gratefully appreciated

Jimbo:
You'll need someone to remove the refrigerent from the aircon system before you disconnect the aircon rad - it's very naughty to let that stuff escape into the atmosphere.

I've read somewhere that you can buy a refill from Halfrauds (I think), but I'd be tempted to get either a mobile aircon guy or an experienced garage to do it - as they have all the dyes and kit to check for leaks !

minty:
i was thinking along the same sort of lines but was'nt sure thanks for that

I would shop around for a reasonable priced regas locally and then ask them to do it in two halves.

We do aircon at work, altough we are a bit far from you.  We would be happy to degas it then regas it the next day or whatever for no more £ than a normal regas.

Removing the gas is only a 5 minute job really.  I would expect to pay anywhere from £40 - £70 for a regas.
