went to wales... and now got a problem!
stageonesimmo:
White smoke also means partially burnt oil in the exhaust (only real place that comes from is knackered turbo seals) - couple that with a high pitched whining noise and I know where I'd be looking...........
...........................thats the turbo, by the way

im not using water no, and im not over heating (the guage reading just over half) ... i will check that bit by the gearbox! thanks!
Rasbo:
I'd diagnose it as the turbo, but befor riping that apart check the head first. Put a cool plate around an inch away from the exhaust exit and check for condensation. If not then take off the air intake hose from the turbo and check for oil traces inside altho its more likely to be in the turbo manifold. with the hose off give the turbo blades a wiggle. a tiny bit off plays not really much of a problem but also check for scores around the inside. hope this helps.

if was me rob id be just splitting the zaust and see if you get covered in oil...like i did on a disco 200 which was also blowing white smoke
wasnt head gasket...was the turbo
