Limousine region of southern France

(1/2) > >>

David santana:
We had a tremendous time in the Limousine region of southern France. South of  Clermont Ferrand, the scenery and off road driving is excellent. we did 380 miles in 6 days  off road ranging from easy to difficult driving. Stopping off at cafés  for the odd  coffee (beer) in some lovely villages .The region is a Plato of some 5000ft.Have a look at some pics http://community.webshots.com/album/559520699lmazuA
We went with a commercial firm they were very good the trip was  in the form of a rally raid with map books and a trip meter (good fun) some camping and some saying in gites (B&B)

Andy 300tdi:
Hi david

Sounds like fun, SWMBO and I have just bought a farm house out there any info you may have on lanes etc would be much appriciated

David santana:
Sorry, I can’t  help you much. We went with a commercial out fit and did not copy any of the routes. We followed the River Allier for a lot of the time but I can not be more specific than that.
Some of the towns we went to;Blassac,ChilhacReilhac, Langeac,PinolsTailhac,Saugues,Monistrolde Allier,Thoras,Viaduc de Garabit.
All I can say is that I am jealous of you having a house there.
It is a wonderful area with many miles of lanes, good food and wine and fantastic scenery.

Andy 300tdi:
looks like plenty of map reading required then

cheers

johnknights:
if you don't mind me asking, who was the event provider?
thanks
John
