« on: June 23, 2007, 21:16:08 »
Can anybody tell me the best way to test if my difflock is working properly, light does not come on, the selecter lever seems to go in ok, but not convinced its working properly. Have not got stuck yet but i have got mud tyres fitted & have not been through serious mud as yet!!!

Engage the difflock. jack up one wheel clear of the ground and if the difflock has engaged then the wheel will no turn much before it turns no more. there will be some movement due to play in the transmission.

jakk up a front wheel, and with difflock engaged and the main box out of gear the wheel shouldnt spin all the way around, just a inch or two with the backlash in the transmission

dont jack rear up as the handbreak will have the rear axle locked up on the prop

Even easier is to engage it then do a full circle...if its working you'll find it scrubs a bit and can feel it through the steering wheel.

Also means you dont have to jack the thing up!
