Within 5 days?
thermidorthelobster:
Here's a question for you... If you ordered something first thing on Monday morning for delivery "within 5 working days", would you expect it by the end of Friday?
My rationale was that "within the day" would mean by the end of Monday, so "within 2 days" would be by the end of Tuesday, within 3 -> Wed, 4 -> Thurs, and within 5 days would mean I'd have the product by the end of Friday.
However, their customer services people saw it differently, and we had a rather repetitive 45 minute conversation about it before they eventually saw the light. (By then they'd probably made enough profit on the national rate phone call to drop it off to me by private helicopter.)
They reckoned "within 5 working days" meant that the delivery would be 1 week after order. I contested their definition of the word "within".
Was just interested to know, do people agree with my logic, or the supplier's?
datalas:
well, whilst I agree with your logic, I've also learnt that in this country delivery and postal services are things that happen to other people.
"next day delivery" means 72 hours around here :(
Sider:
Unsurprising, though saddeningly true.
It seems that no one bothers with checking their grammar anymore, let alone their service, or lack thereof. Unfortunately, they are right, and the customer is only that inconvenient insect that stops them from having a succesful bussiness.
sleeplessparadise:
me and Johnty both agree that we would expect it by the following Monday, we would not count Monday of the order as the first working day. I am not saying that is how it should be but that is what we would expect.
Yoshi:
well 5 working days usually runs from the next working day, as sometimes they dont dispatch on the same day as the order. so 5 working days from monday would be the following monday.
