Damn pigeons

Pigeons - my pet hate. We're a bit too close to the neighbours here, otherwise I'd get my mate and his moderated 410 up here to sort the greedy little (big ?) beggars out.

Has anyone else noticed that the pigeon population seems to have increased significantly this year ? (and no, I'm not a twitcher), but also we're seeing loads more song birds in the garden, thrushes and blackbirds every day, and most afternoons a flock of goldfinches descend on the 'purple-coloured bush' in next doors garden (ah, yes, buddlia I think its called).

Back to the original problem - pigeons seem to be scroungers (they even try cleaning out the dogs bowl !), so I reckon if you take away the food source, they should eventually get the hint and go away to. I find that the tall, clear plastic bird feeders are good - although they do take a load of seed to fill, they will attract some really nice examples - blue tits, long tails, greenfinches etc.
