2" lift-Better off road???
CNorman:
Hi guys,
I own a 300tdi and have found that as standard but with a steering guard and diff guards on MT's i can go through any lane and off road course.
I do however realise that the vehicle does ground out and believe a 2" lift kit is probably a good idea however i have a couple of concerns,
1). I have had the discovery on three wheels a number of times and do drive sections with very large angles (left hand wheels higher than right for example).
Will a 2" lift kit not surelly cause the vehicle to roll over much easier!
suggs:
had mine on some silly angles with a 3 inch lift.

I beleive that the extra lift will also give you more articulation to aid in the twisty bits. :)
But there is always the "remove the Anti-roll bar" trick which a few people have done to give you the extra bit of twist in the rear axle :)

A 2†lift kit will not give you more ground clearance – it will give you a slightly better ramp over height. If you want more ground clearance then you need to fit bigger tyres so that the diffs are lifted, and then you will need a 2†or higher lift to help the tyres clear the bodywork though some cutting of the bodywork is also usually necessary.
Yes, anything that lifts the weight higher shifts the centre of gravity and makes the vehicle more prone to tipping, not a problem you just drive accordingly.
If you are running standard suspension then that may well be the reason you are lifting a wheel on the twisty bits – Remove rear ant roll bar - change your springs and shocks to give you more droop + longer brake hoses.

Could I ask, is there any disadvantages of removing the rear anti roll bar?
