300tdi Auto MPG?
barmiebrumie:
Swmbo's 300tdi (auto) returns 400miles to the tank & runs on svo/contaminated fuel from work (derv/petrol mix) so works out at £25 to fill the tank :D
Daughters 200tdi (manua) return's 400miles to the tank on same fuel & is running on 31' at's & lifted ect
My 200tdi (manual) return's 350 to the tank on the same fuel & is running on 33's lifted heavyduty everything, large roofrack, lifted, pump tweeked ect ect
To fill all three from empty costs about £80 :D
btw used to have a TD5 auto that only done 17mpg  :(

Sounds extremely cheap motoring... I worked it out at a touch over 35p per litre for your unusual mix.
We used to add a can of petrol to every four or five cans of diesel when I used to drive army HGV's, particularly in winter, never did them any harm, but then they were much older engine technology, not sure how it would affect the internals of a 200 or 300 TDi.
You get this contaminated fuel for how much per litre?
What mix of SVO to contaminated fuel do you use?
How much per litre are you paying for the SVO?

Contaminated fuel comes free as work would normally have to pay to have it disposed of,
I mix it 75% svo 25% mix,
Svo costs 46p per liter,
I have been using svo fo over a year now & covered over 5,000 miles with no ill effect apart from regular draining & refilling of the sump as it seems to seep in :?

I was looking into getting a diesel and running on pure SVO for the environment, ...ok my pocket, since you can register at a Cash N Carry and get SVO for less than 35p a litre if you get a bulk delivery. Not sure where you are but any food wholesaler should be cheaper.
The government is going to relax the rules on fuel tax this summer, so you will be able to use up to 2500 litres a year without having to declare the duty on the SVO. (thats 550 gallons to the older heads)
I was going to go the elsbett conversion route rather than pre-heating, since it's less maintenance and makes the engine last longer.
With the contaminated fuel you always have the wonder about the supply drying up, but then you'd be in a better position to know that there is a regular percentage of the population filling the petrol tank with diesel.
Of course most of your fuel already is tax paid, just thought you'd be interested in where to get the SVO a little cheaper.
:D
