Anderson Sockets
Bush Tucker Man:
Or are they Plugs?
Discuss.
I'll presume that more than one person out there has fitted Andersons to their vehicle mainly in order to plug in 'jump-leads' (the other usual use being a demountable winch)
You all know the scenario; someone comes up to you
"Excuse me, do you happen to have any jump-leads?, my battery's flat. Would you possibly help me, please"[/i]
So.. you decant your front-seat passenger (usually when it's raining), pull out the seat-squab, take the metal cover off, dig out the leads, connect everything up.
Not forgetting to hope that the clip doesn't move off the positive terminal & arc out aginst the seat-box [-o<
If so where have you fitted yours?
I'm currently in the process of deciding where to put them (cable runs permitting)
At the moment this is the preferred position
'click on pic'
I did consider in the rear load-space, but the positions are limited due to the seats, under the bonnet doesn't seem to offer many more options.
(if it had been a standard grille, I might have been tempted to mount below the 'slam-panel')
As for physical connection; I've spoken to our Estates Department & the Electricians have the correct crimping tools for the sizes of cables I'll be using
Of course, I'll put a 'small-consideration' into their tea-fund for their kindness (they have come in useful on numerous occasions, as have the Engineers )

Thanks for that Rob, but don't they contact/interfere with the door-trim in that position??
TDi90:
yeh they do...
but i cut a rectangular area out of the trim... so the wires and the actual plug had room.
i only put it there because it is simple. some people run them all the way into the back of the truck and all sorts of obscure places...
i personally put it there so i could open the door and get it on quick.

I'd go for your's BTM - but I'd fit the thing pointing down so it doesn't collect ferrets and old ladies and such - if its high enough up you'll not get any problems connecting it as there'll be enough flex in the cables.......
