fan belt / alternator belt

RichardM:
Gareth,
the pic was at a Wye and Welsh LRC Tyro event.
If you look at your VIN number you will see it starts of along the lines of SAL = Land Rover
LJ=Disco
G= 100" Wheel base
M= 5 door
F3 or something for 300Tdi
then two letters and six digits.  The two letters indicate the model year and the six digits are your unique number
MA=1995
TA=1996
VA=1997
Don't forget the model year usually starts before the calendar year.  My car is MA but was registered in Sep 94

Bit of a late response I know, but just found this whilst browsing through. My aux belt was on it's way out. The garage I use did it for me the following day, they got the belt (from the local Main Stealers :(, was waiting for a big bill when I saw the parts invoice in their office with the LR headed paper!), fitted it, and charged me a tenner altogether! Wasn't worth me having a go at doing it myself. Having said that, they've had plenty of money off me recently ;)
