agreeing with the guys above, if it's been standing it may be that the batt is flat or a loose earth. if it's not the battery, try qiving it a crank start (if you can), as something may be ciesed, if it is, then this should fix the problem then try starting with the ignition

nope no small click when i turn the key infact if anything when key turns it stops everything

its been stood there since we moved in in feb and the car will start and drive ok if we bump/tow it

Devon-Rover:
Bad earth.

Run a battery cable form the engine to the neg on the battery then try.

fordlltwm:
Try putting a wire between the feed and the return to the solenoid, turn the ignition on before putting the wire there, :oops:  :oops:  :oops: if granny sucking eggs comes to mind
