I was going to use blue tack, toilet rolls and a bit of duct tape...

But instead I've got hold of a kit as per Ashcrofts - see here: http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/part_66.html
Does mean you have to put the engine slightly further forward, but this shouldn't cause any major issues.

The other option is to convert a Defender LT230 transfer box to selectable 4x4 as per the very early 110's.  But this setup is longer still and does require a few more mods.

The Americans like doing the same thing too... but use a R380 box.  The short bellhousing type R380 is very rare though!!
