Cover for tub on truck cab
« on: May 30, 2007, 21:48:48 »
Hi all,

have a Series truck cab and want to knock up a cover for the tub. Will a Sankey cover fit or am I better off getting hold of some canvas and having a go, only problem is I guess I'm going to need some preaty special sewing machine to stich it up ;)

Would a sail maker be able to knock someting up? if so any ideas of cost? or is there something available to fit already?

Noticed dave_2A_2.25Turbo has one on his Series in his galleries ;)

Certainly have.  Got it with a canvas truck cab off the auction site - about £45 for them (unused) I think.  Good when topless too - you can chuck stuff in the back without it being on view or flying out in the slipstream......

Pobably find Paddocks could source them, but I think mine was from All Wheel Trim originally.

Excellent with the bikini top I got off of Suggs too!

Edit:  I got a tonneau bar with it as well - strongly reccomended!

The item you're after is called a tonneau cover.

As said above, loads available commercially. And if you have a spare wheel mounted in the rear tub, you can get bespoke ones made up for quite reasonable money. There was a chap at Sodbury offering these services although I cannot recall his name now, sorry. Chekc out your local trimming/auto places and you may be suprised at the costs for something unique to your landy.

Go for one that has bungee style cord in the loops for ease of use. And pictures when its sorted out!!

In the end I welded a length of angle across the tub and bolted on a hidged sheet of weatherproof ply, a hasp and paddlock to tailgate and a lick of black paint it finish off.

Total cost £25.00, strong enough to stand on and a great place to stap my waffles etc to.

Hi Dave, Like the pics :)

One question though, what size are your tyres? looking for new ones for my S3

Also address above for allwheeltrim will be handy as thinking of getting a reduced height set of 3/4 hood sticks & canvas so I can put my baby to bed in garage without the hassle of removing sticks & canvas
