Pay As You Go Roads
schuee:
Looks like the ball has started rolling for pay as you go , on various roads of the UK.

Just think of all the money, which will be paid to the government, then only to be swallowed up by local council bureaucracy.
Then they will realise, it has not made a single bit of difference to the congestion on the road, will probably only price out the very few who cannot afford it.
Still they know this already, though what a way to make a fast buck
So much for signing the petition, still did not expect much from the muppets in charge at the moment.
Edge:
I agree... "Petitions are a total waste of time".
I do feel sorry for those who are already struggling to afford the costs of getting to and from work on a low salary. (The poor will get poorer as per usual).
Lord Shagg-Pyle:
So what can be done about this?
I am getting seriously riled about this. I pay tax on my cars, I pay tax on the fuel, where does it end?
As mentioned already, it is not going to ease congestion. where is all the money raised going to go?
I like millions of others have to use my car to get to work. I can't use public transport as buses and trains don't run to where I work, nor do they run at times that correspond with my shifts, so I am left with no option.
Is this Government that blind, deaf and stupid that they don't realise they are really peeing off a lot of people, or are they that arrogant that they don't care?
I don't want to live in a city where everything is laid on for me. What about the people who live in places that don't have regular transport routes.
This country is becoming a Soviet style state run by faceless, uncaring bureaucrats.
I am now going before I start to swear, and break things! :x :x :x :x
Edge:
Wonder if there is anyway to stop this unfair "overcharging" via Brussels? Surely paying road tax entitles the bearer to travel freely on all roads which aren't private?
Rich_P:
Just remember that the current lot are not likely to get in again at the next general elections...
