Mutz:
the engine is out of the def now, hindsight is such a wonderful thing!!!!!
Actually thinking about it now, using the starter was how the mechanic did my Pajero.
 So ring spanner and a 14lb sledge hammer and dont miss!!!!!!!

get a mobile mechanic out
3/4inchdrive impact gun will soon shift it
i have sat there for ages with a half inch gun with impact socket before now when engines been out, and the shock had broken the seal enough for me to undo it with a big bar
make sure the engine is secure, ( i got tie down points in corner of workshop where i ratchet strap it down)
get someone to hold the flywheel with a prybar and you swing like a monkey off the crank bolt
if not, warm it up with some oxyacetyline bottles, itll go then
dan
Mutz:
Have tried impact wrench, no joy there, have got a frame support on flywheel and bolted to casing; but engine does move about a bit so will try to get it more firm tomorrow and go buy another spanner or 2 in case i break some more. thanks for your advice, appreciated.
Damn i wish i had rememberd about the starter trick, well cheesed about it now.

if you warm it up be four you shock it should go. i used a 3/4 air gun on mine and didnt shift it warmed it up with some oxi then give it a shock big smack on the cranck bolt with a big hammer it soon came undone
Mutz:
"Done it"
Think the main problem was not having it fixed down and i was losing leverage.
Droped it onto ramps to hold it firm then used 24" breaker bar with 5' scaffold pole, after 3rd attempt it came free; glad i didnt have to use heat as concerned about the rubber mount in the pulley wheel.
Thanks for all your advice.
Graham
