EGR plate

paul and sam:
hi guys any thought i have a EGR blanking plate to fit on my sons 300TDI i need to know where is best to fit it ie next to the valve or can i put it between the pipe and the intercooler hose? i have removed the chamber and cleaned it out  as well as the pipe work for the  intercooler (full of crud as usual lol) many thanks

Les Henson:
It's normally fitted between pipe and intercooler hose. As long as it stops exhaust gas from entering the intercooler hose, then it doesn't really matter. Some people remove the valve completely and blank off the exhaust/fit an intercooler hose that has no pipe connection on it.

I have fitted mine between the pipe and inter-cooler hose, purely as it was the easiest place to fit it. I took it that so long as the gasses were not getting back into the mixture, that would be fine ?

But that way you risk the valve sticking open and dumping your boost producing gases to atmosphere. (not that I'm saying it can/will happen I just always work on the worst case scenario)

Stick it under the vlave on the turbo body - its just as easy to get too and you know the sysem is fully sealed and the valve can fail if it wants but it wont affect anything.

This may explain why i haven't seen much improvement  :? i will change it over and see if any difference then.
