discovery 1 200 tdi turbo

wizard:
Only two things will stop a diesel, lack of air or lack of fuel.
Take the pipe of the plenum chamber, thats the bit the top of the dip stick is attached to.
Rev the engine up to 3000rpm,  if it revs freely you shouldnt be able to block off the pipe going to the to  the plenum chamber from the intercooler, if you can keep you hand over the pipe (intercooler side)then turbo is proberly stuffed
If it wont reach 3000 rpm you proberly have a lack of fuel, the main culprits are either the fuel lift pump or a hole in the fuel line where the two fuel lines come out of the top of the fuel tank.
Pull the boot carpet up and you will see a round cover on the floor plate, the fuel line are underneath.

Sorry if its a bit of a ramble.

what tyres you got ?
does it pull up the gears fine then just loose its guts on hills ?

sounds like booste pressure to me if its suffering on hills

have you actualy checked to see what the turbo is producing ? or just see if it blows
as a completely shot turbo will stil blow agood draft when the top intercooler pipes removed, until it comes under load up a hill then it cant preduce

have you tried it with the exhaust off to eliminate any form of restriction in the exhaust system ?

if it was a leaking fuel pipe, when engine is turned off and left over night
it would be a royal PITA to start  in the morning and would run lumpy as hell until the air went out of the system
you would also be getting a slight miss fire depending on how bad the pipes were gone

if its fine on flat but when you hit a incline it makes me thin restriction in zaust ( so chocking the engine...acting like a engine break on trucks )

no boost pressure

or gearing

waveydavey:
First thing I would do is bin the garage and not pay the bill.

Stick a boost gauge on and find out what the boost really is. Any garage worth their salt would have done that by now. Make tappings before and after the intercooler if necessary.

As has been said it's air or fuel end of story. With the right kit it's very easy to find.
