Anyone been to Bosnia yet?
reh249:
Hi guys, I've been browsing this forum because we are thinking of taking our Disco abroad this year for our holiday. I have followed your links for trips to Andora and the Pyrenees, but also a friend passed on this website to me - www.ilovebosnia.com.
Anyone tried them, heard anything about them or been green laning in Bosnia before? It says on the website they are the first people to offer it?
Cheers! :)
DFR:
Bosnia is a really nice country and the offroading is excellent, mountain roads everywhere, even the main roads are interesting. I havent been there for some years so I am sure the country has sorted itself out now. The right people are nice enough just beware of the slivovic

If you do go, under no Circumstances step off hard ground.
MILLIONS of landmines STILL EXIST IN THE COUNTRY,
When I was last there I had to undergo monthly mine awareness training.
We were not allowed outside the camp without mine maps and mine marking kit.
Don't be lulled into a false sense of security because you are in Europe
I have seen people die there just stepping off roads
the MINES ADVISORY GROUP could give you further advice.

Thanks for the comments guys, yes it really does look nice from the photos DFR.
Of course I had condidered the mine problem, but it seems they are only using established lanes anyway. I wouldnt even be considering it otherwise, believe me! Which parts of the country did you visit DFR? Bugojno and Travnik are mentioned on the site. I looked them up on google earth and there certainly seem to be enough contours around there! :)

It wasnt the mines that worried me while i was there it was the lorry drivers! they think nothing of overtaking on a blind bend and all the traffic seems to work on the rule, biggest has right of way!
Having said that, beautiful country, great off roading and nice people.
cheers, Rob
