Most don't carry a risk of death to random members of the public.

Very true, I don't know much about the Gumball rally, but it has to asked what Health and Safety regs were in place.
As mentioned, my only experience is with the Italian Job, for which H&S had been well catered for. Unfortunately there is still the human risk element.

being a big gumball fan (and i went to that start last weekend in london) i think it is qwuality. where else in the world do you find bugatti veyrons and lambos and ferraris all in one place and 120 of them?!
i think it is an incredible race, and have been following every day. this news came out middle of yesterday.
its most cirtainly not old news. a real shame, and i think it is good of them to stop the rally out of respect.
i dont think they will ban them. there are olther rallies like the gumball.
eg. carbon black, bull run etc etc.... google search them. they are very alike to the gumball.
i have some brilliant videos and pictures whitch i can share a few with anyone if they want...

My understanding is it's not actually a race, it's an event. There is a difference.

There is often a potential....why else would you get warnings on tickets for all motorsport events if it wasn't to cover the organisers backsides against claims...
